Picking booth space. Do not go for the front

It may seem like a dream.  You registered very early and got first pick of booth space at the show.  Now you have set your sites on the first booth at the entrance to the exhibit hall.  THIS IS GOING TO BE GREAT!

But before you pick that first booth, ask yourself this question.  What are the goals of your booth?  If you are merely looking for visibility, then the first spot is probably the best.  Let’s face it, everyone will, no matter what, see your company when they walk in.  BUT, will they stop to visit.

The odds are not in your favor.  When people first come into a show they want to gain their bearings.  They want to walk around, see who’s on the show floor.  They do not want to stop at the first booth on the show floor.

If you want to have a successful space, pick somewhere in the middle of the show floor and definitely on a main isle.  Another good tip is to pick a booth by a presentation theater or near a meeting area, but make sure the meeting area is not at the end of the earth.  Pick a meeting area in a crowded area.

Note:  DO NOT PICK A BOOTH BY THE BATHROOMS.  Some people think this will have a lot of valuable traffic.  It will have traffic but not valuable traffic.  People on their way to the bathroom are interested in a higher cause other than your services/products.  And when they come out they are not in the mood to speak as well.

If you have a good draw to the booth, your booth space will not matter as much

the front space looks great to execs, but the reality is it stinks for booth traffic. Great minds think alike… stay away from the front
