Losing your luggage is horrible, no matter what the situation, but when you have a meeting to attend or a conference (especially the same day as travel) it just stinks. You land and you stand anxiously at the luggage carousel. After about 20 minutes, you notice everyone has their luggage and there’s like 2 bags continually revolving around the carousel and neither are yours. BUT you hold strong, you stubborn it out. You curse at the carousel, you threaten the carousel with bodily harm, and yet your luggage still does not appear. What are you going to wear now? Novelty store shorts with a “San Diego is for lovers” t-shirt. “I LOATHE YOU BAGGAGE CAROUSEL”.
Eventually you give up and now it’s time to head to baggage claim office to do the necessary.
Now click on this link below, it has some great tips. One tip I can share is if you even fathom for a second that your luggage is not coming out, go to the baggage claim counter immediately. BEAT THE CROWD. Most people wait until the bitter end and then head to the counter. By this time there are 20 angry people in front of you from your flight.
If you go early, you can fill out everything in a calm environment. If your bag does show up late on the carousel…no problem. You’ve wasted some time filling out forms, but you’ve avoided the crowd and in any case, you would have been anxiously waiting at the carousel anyway.
